CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER

Working together for children

The Child Advocacy Center is a result of the shared vision of several Allen County agencies and partners committed to providing the best possible care to child victims of sexual abuse.

Our mission is to provide a comprehensive community response to individuals and families affected by abuse.

The Kid's Clinic of Lima Memorial Hospital was the historical precedent for what became the Child Advocacy Center of West Central Ohio. The vision of a child advocacy center became a reality in September of 2013 when we opened our doors to provide services to child victims of sexual assault and adults with developmental disabilities.  Research demonstrates that child advocacy centers reduce trauma and promote healing for child victims of sexual abuse as well as increase prosecution of offenders.

The Child Advocacy Center serves up to 150 victims each year and is
accredited through the National Children’s Alliance and a member of the Ohio Network of Child Advocacy Centers.

What we do

The Child Advocacy Center utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to reduce trauma and promote healing for victims of sexual assault.

We provide expert forensic interviews, mental health services, medical exams, victim advocacy, and criminal investigation and prosecution of offenders.

Helping victims of sexual abuse and their families requires an approach that addresses the physical, emotional and legal dimensions of abuse. That's why we partner with:

SAFY Behavioral Health, Inc.

Mercy Health St. Rita’s

Lima Memorial Health System

Allen County Prosecutors Office

Lima Police Department

Allen County Sheriff’s Office

Allen County Children Services

Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
