There are so many questions surrounding the topic of human trafficking. What is it? Does this happen in our area? Are there different kinds? Do people choose this lifestyle?
Human trafficking is the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for the purpose of a commercial sex act or labor or services through the use of force, fraud, or coercion.
Examples of human trafficking include but are not limited to: --prostitution --debt bondage --live sex shows --domestic servitude --pornography --sweat shops --strip clubs
Another category of human trafficking is child sex trafficking. Child sex trafficking is when a child (under the age of 18) is induced to perform a commercial sex act. Proving force, fraud, or coercion against their pimp is not necessary for the offense to be characterized as trafficking.
